ABOUT
David Gosz and Leo Fotos are musical theatre creators based in New York City. They are members of the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop and members of the Theatre Now New York International Writers Lab.
Their original musical, TRU, was a finalist for the 2017 New York Musical Festival, and debuted with the first ever sold-out run at the 2018 Chicago Musical Theatre Festival where it took home 14 nominations and 2 wins for "Best Choreography" and "Best Music". TRU made its Official World Premiere in November 2019 at Stage 773. The musical has been praised and endorsed by organizations including The National Alliance on Mental Illness, The Kennedy Forum, Hope For The Day, Pillars Community Health, Compass Health, Riveredge Hospital, and The Hope For Us Network for its impactful telling of the relationship between an individual and their mental illness. Seven songs from TRU are featured on an EP that is streaming on all major listening platforms.
In 2017, the duo began working on their second major project, San, a musical encapsulating the incredible life of Mardi Gras designer, San Nicholas. San will be the exclusive re-telling of the journey of the designer who changed Mardi Gras forever. San is a 2022 and 2023 Eugene O'Neill National Music Theater Conference Semi-Finalist and was selected to be in The 2022 New York Theater Festival. San was presented in concert at Broadway's 54 Below in October 2023 and was most recently presented on February 1st, 2024 at Le Petit Théâtre in New Orleans to open Mardi Gras and usher in the opening of a brand new exhibit at The Louisiana State Museum's Presbytère titled "To Be A Star: the Carnival Costume Designs of San Nicholas".
Original music by Gosz & Fotos was featured in the first commissioned TikTok musical For You, Paige which was performed live from a theater in New York City as a part of TikTok’s #ProjectBroadway which celebrates all things theater, musicals, and Broadway.
